Nusantara: Bermuda Triangle Demo Review.

In 20XX, an enormous earthquake shook the world and caused a triangular crater to suddenly appear in the middle of Bermuda Triangle. The world was aghast with this discovery; even more so when scout teams discovered an ‘invisible wall’ around it, preventing further investigation. As if it wasn’t enough, spiritual events also increased all over the world after this phenomenon occurred.

Our heroine, Maya (19), was a young adult who was busy earning her living so this kind of event was of little importance aside from adding an exciting spice into her life. But then her world crumbled when a Goddess came and announced something terrible to her about her family.

The Goddess offered Maya a deal: She would alter her family’s fate in exchange for closing the Bermuda Crater. To do that, Maya would have to go to a place called Forgotten Isles, find what caused it, and look for a solution.

If she agreed, three men will accompany her, acting as bodyguards. Apparently, they each have their own circumstances and a wish to be granted.

The creator of Nusanatara is back with a new game and it looks really nice! All the characters have interesting and unique designs that set them apart from one another and sets up their own theme in regards to the special powers that they might have. The character sprites are all really expressive and do well in displaying the emotions that are being set within the story, which can go from serious to hilarious very quickly! The CGs and background designs are really detailed and well made. However, there is a lot of mystery and fantasy in the game’s story!

In the beginning, the player encounters a strange dream filled with mirrors and a soft voice explaining what they are for. Maya is young woman that works at a bar and does tarot readings (which she is very good at due to some magical assistance) in order to help support her large family. Her mother is a stay-at-home mom that takes care of 3 rowdy young children with her father working long hours in order to support the family, and while they struggle they all seem to care about each other deeply. Most of the first half of the game is showing Maya’s daily life and introducing the player to her personal life and its circumstances. One bright light is the upcoming trip that her father has gotten the whole family for Bali as a short vacation, but near the day they are suppose to leave, Maya is meet with a strange event — space and time freezing around her, as she encounters a Goddess. She and three others have been chosen to close the crater near the Bermuda Triangle within a year and they will receive a wish, but also become aware of their own personal powers and the “sins” related to them. However, not everything is as it seems as the group finds it difficult to get along at first and there seems to be a lot left unsaid on what they will face and learn throughout their year together.

The three guys that are supposed to help Maya on her journey are: Guntur, Arya, and Kah’lil, though each of them has a very unique personality. Guntur is shown to be a criminal, but during his time on the island thus far he seems to be very domestic since he is good at cooking (and his potential healing power), though his gruff personality and reputation put Maya on edge most of the time. Arya is blind but has the most sour disposition out of the group since he doesn’t really talk to anyone and a foul word is every other word thing comes out of his mouth. However, he is really smart and is shown to have a softer side here and there. Lastly is Kah’lil who is eccentric, happy, and very easygoing, but he seems to have a darker background since he seems to know Guntur pretty well.

Maya interacts with them in various ways, but it seems that it will still take sometime for them to become a functioning group and even harder for them to open up since each of them seems to be hiding their own sets of secrets, even if they aren’t aware of them just yet. It will be interesting to see how all of them grow and change over the course of the year, and whether they can have form a friendship after all of this is said and done.

This game has a lot of potential in terms of both character development and story lines, so consider checking it out! Also since this game is considered a sequel, it might be a good idea to check out the first game as well!
